Teaching Style and Availability...
Every student is taught according to his or her unique learning style and skill set. This makes learning fast, fun, and full of lessons that are easily retained.
My first goal is to make sure that my students enjoy what they are doing, for nothing can be accomplished if that is missing. Otherwise, I do not use specific teaching methods or books (ie Hal Leonard, Alfred, etc) and strive to form well rounded musicians and human beings through my teaching.
I prefer to teach different styles of music and playing instead of crafting 'classical' players or 'jazz' players. My students will learn and be familiar with a large selection of genres and playing styles while maintaining superior technical ability on their instrument. In addition, the analysis of aural and written theory is uniquely woven into the natural flow of the lesson. This results in a much more complete musician.
I have re-opened my home studio. I now live off of Ann Arbor-Saline Road, near the Whole Foods.
DETAILS: Lesson rates on all instruments are 50 dollars per hour. Lesson rates are non-negotiable, but may include a negotiable distance driving fee for students outside the Ann Arbor area who wish to study in their home. For young students, 30 and 45 minute lessons are also available.
